How will I know that I have registered successfully?

To register you will have to maintain an account with us and obtain a Electronic/Personal Banking Number (PBN) and Personal Identification Number (PIN). You can then use our self- registration process to access your accounts over the Internet. The self-registration process is explained below:

From our website homepage, click on ´Register Now´. Key in your PBN and PIN, create a 6 character alpha, numeric or alpha-numeric Password and confirm your choice. This Password will have to be used along with your PBN to access internet banking for all future logons.

You will then be presented with the ´Terms and Conditions´ for internet banking. After you accept the ´Terms and Conditions´, you will be shown the list of all your accounts held with the Bank which are linked to your Customer Number. At this stage, you may choose to unmark one or more of your accounts from this service. When you confirm your acceptance of the list by clicking on ´Confirm´ you are presented with a ´Welcome´ screen which confirms that you have been registered for internet banking. You can now logon to access your Bank accounts.

The PBN is a 10 digit number which is allocated to you when you first register for either internet banking or our Phone Banking Service. This number allows the Bank to uniquely identify you as a customer and must be used when accessing both internet banking and Phone Banking Services.

The PIN is a 6 digit number allocated to you when you first register for our Phone Banking Service. The PIN is used in conjunction with the PBN to register for the internet banking service. During the Online Registration process, you will have to choose your own 6-character alpha, numeric or alpha-numeric Password. This Password will then have to be used along with your PBN to access the internet banking service for all future logons. The PIN is also used to identify you as a customer when you call the Call Centre.

Your Password is important.

Follow these tips when creating your Password:

Select a Password that cannot be easily guessed by anyone else. Do not associate your Password with anything personal such as birthdays, names, phone numbers or other familiar words.

Create a Password with letters, numbers or a combination of both, use upper and lower cases.

Your Password must never be given to any other party - not even to the staff of the Bank.

Never write or otherwise record your Password in a way that can be read or understood by someone else. Never record your Password on any software which retains it automatically, (e.g. any computer screen prompts or ´save Password´ feature or the like on your Internet browser). Change your Password regularly.

Change your Password frequently if you access your account using a shared PC (e.g. internet cafe).

Do not use Password from other Internet sites.

If you suspect any unusual account activity, call our Call Centre at 0800-22044 (in Jordan) and (9714) 228-8007 (outside Jordan). In these circumstances, you should immediately change your Password by selecting ´Change Internet Banking Password' option under ´Online Services´ menu.

When you have read them you must either accept them by clicking on ´Accept´ or, if you choose not to accept them, you must click on ´Reject´ and the Registration process will be terminated.

While registering for internet banking, those accounts that you hold with the Bank that are linked to your PBN and currently supported by internet banking will be automatically displayed. These accounts will be accessible through this service. Joint accounts, where signing instructions are ´to sign jointly´, are not available to be accessed through internet banking.
If you do not wish to view any of your account(s), you may unmark the relevant account to remove it from internet banking. If you change your mind at a later stage, call our Call Centre and we will re-instate the de-activated accounts.

Once registered for internet banking, whenever you open an additional account at the Branch or through the Phone Banking Service, it will be automatically linked to your accounts and can be viewed online.

Security is our top priority. Your financial information is protected by your Electronic/Personal Banking Number and Password, our powerful 128-bit encryption code and automatic ´time-out´. Your Electronic/Personal Banking Number and Password must be entered each time you logon to internet banking. If there´s no activity after a short period of time, your internet banking session is terminated to prevent unauthorised access.

You play a significant role in your own security. Two pieces of key data must remain confidential - your Electronic/Personal Banking Number and Password.

The auto-complete function on your browser should be disabled, to avoid the automatic completion of your Electronic/Personal Banking Number when you type in the Electronic/Personal Banking Number field.
Your Password is as important as your Electronic/Personal Banking Number. Follow these tips when creating your Password:

Select a Password that cannot be easily guessed by anyone else. Do not associate your Password with anything personal such as birthdays, names, phone numbers or other familiar words.

Create a Password with letters, numbers or a combination of both, use upper and lower cases.

Install virus detection software on your computer. This needs to be updated regularly to ensure that you have the latest protection.

To prevent viruses or other unwanted problems, do not open attachments from unknown or untrustworthy sources. Do not install pirated software.

Know everyone who uses your computer and limit unauthorised access.

You should never leave your PC unattended. Always log off after you have finished using the service.

If you forget to log off, or the system detects no activity for longer than 10 minutes, you will be automatically logged off. If you forget your password at any time, please contact our Call Centre.

Do not conduct any banking transactions in a public place (i.e. internet cafe), as it is difficult to ensure such PCs are free of hacker programmes (someone might be able to access your personal or account information).

Verify that the Internet address is the genuine HSBC´s website by double clicking the "padlock" icon at the bottom bar of the screen to check the security certificate of HSBC.
