You can get HSBC Travel Insurance if:

  • You're a Jordanian or have a valid residency permit
  • You're aged between 18 to 69 years old. This applies to your spouse too
  • Your children are above 3 months and under 19 years old. Or if they're studying full-time, up to 23 years old. They must be unmarried and primarily dependent on you
  • You hold accounts or credit cards with HSBC

Like any insurance policy, Travel Protection does not cover injuries resulting from certain events, such as:

  • War or warlike operations
  • Flying as a pilot or crew member on any aircraft
  • Playing a professional sport
  • Intentional self-injury or suicide
  • Criminal or illegal acts

How much is my spouse insured for?

Your spouse is insured for the same amount that you have chosen for yourself.

Will Travel Protection cover me while I’m flying?

Yes, provided you are flying as a fare-paying passenger and not as a member of the crew.

What is the Sum Insured for each of my children?

Each of your children is insured for the same amount as yourself.

What is 'Emergency Evacuation'?

Emergency Evacuation means taking the insured person from one place to another where medical attention can be provided to him. The Emergency Evacuation must be ordered by Middle East Insurance Company (MEICO) or a physician who certifies that the severity or the nature of the person's injury or sickness warrants the person's evacuation.

What items are covered under baggage loss?

This coverage is only for common carrier checked-in baggage. Other valuables misplaced or stolen will not be covered.

How many trips can I take in a year or before the expiry of the policy?

There is no restriction on the number of trips. You can take as many trips as you want.

What if I leave HSBC, can I still keep my insurance coverage?

Yes.

Do I have to use an HSBC credit card to pay the premium?

No, you can pay with any credit card. You just have to have a relationship with HSBC to be eligible for Travel Protection.

When does my coverage start?

Subject to payment of the premium, premium charged to the insured Person's credit card, the insurance applied for shall be effective from the policy effective date and time of plane departure.
